In light of the lack of five-year housing land supply in North Somerset, we pursued an application in this location and incorporated a number of community benefits including allotments, playing pitches and changing facilities for a local football team.
Unfortunately North Somerset Council officers were unwilling to support the application and we therefore pursued an appeal for non-determination. Christopher Young QC represented us during a Public Inquiry alongside a number of other experts in matters of planning policy, five-year housing land supply, landscape impact and affordable housing delivery.
The Inspector granted the appeal and the land was sold to Lovell Homes, who undertook the reserved matters application and construction on site is now almost complete.
SWSD then secured consent for a Phase 2 which has also now been sold to a house builder. We are now working on an Outline Planning Application for a Phase 3.
