We promoted this site through the Local Plan Examination and whilst the Council did not formally allocate the land, they and the Inspector acknowledged that it would be required both for five year housing land supply purposes and to meet the overall identified need in West Somerset, which was predicted to increase substantially due to the Hinkley Point C power station project.
We successfully secured permission via the planning committee following an officer’s recommendation for approval, resolving all technical issues whilst also providing a new country park for the local community.
The site has now been sold to a house builder who is currently undertaking the reserved matters process.
