The Rt. Hon. Lord Howard of Lympne is the only person to have been a Planning QC, Planning Minister and Secretary of State for the Environment.
He was M.P. for Folkestone and Hythe from 1983 to 2010, when he was made a Life Peer, and also held the posts of Employment Secretary and Home Secretary as well as Leader of the Opposition. He was

Marize joined the SWSD team in 2023. Having worked in the investment management sector for the past 10 years, she has specialised in Property Management and Development for the last 5 years. Marize completed her Honours in Business Management from UNISA and Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa.

Over the last 15 years, Alan has worked for Herridge Property, who provide specialist advice to landowners, developers and promoters on all aspects of the development process, from valuations and viability, through to agency advice on land sales and acquisitions, utilising contacts with all the main house building companies operating in these areas.
Alan is a qualified member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Matthew has significant experience in both public and private sector planning environments, having worked for the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, an area with one of the highest levels of planning protection, and latterly, Barton Willmore, where he was involved in leading large multidisciplinary teams delivering large scale mixed use projects. He is a qualified member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
